The seal was awarded by the non-profit European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF). The certified vacuum cleaners are fitted with special class 13 and 14 HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air filter) filters. In Europe filter classes 1 to 17 are used to describe the degree of filter efficiency when the appliance is used; the higher the number, the higher the filtration capacity. The filters eliminate allergy-causing substances such as dust mite eggs and excretions, pollen, smoke particles, and fine dust particles from carpets and other furniture as well as from the air. The vacuum cleaners recognised by ECARF demonstrate a filtration efficiency of more than 99.95%. “Every household contains a large number of allergy triggers. People sensitive to dust in the home can reduce the chance of allergic reaction to a minimum with the ECARF-certified Nilfisk vacuum cleaners, thereby significantly improving their quality of life”, pointed out ECARF foundation head Prof. Dr. med. Torsten Zuberbier.
The Nilfisk company was founded in Denmark in 1906 and is today one of the world’s leading manufacturers of cleaning appliances for consumers and professionals.
The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) has been awarding the ECARF Seal of Quality according to scientifically determined criteria since 2006. The seal designates products and services that significantly improve quality of life for allergy sufferers. ECARF also supports structured research in allergology as well as initiatives toward the improvement of medical treatment of allergic illnesses on a European level.
